Overview and First Steps
Catalogic Backup Appliance is an integrated backup solution that installs DPX (backup software) and vStor (storage backend) on a single host — physical or virtual. The appliance is designed for fast deployment and minimal configuration. During installation, the system automatically prepares and connects all required components, so the environment is ready to use immediately after setup.
Additionally, the package comes with Catalogic GuardMode Agent – software for early detection of ransomware or data-related anomalies before you back up your data.
This Catalogic Backup Appliance Quick Start Guide aims at a seamless introduction to the Catalogic Software Data Protection Suite. With this Quick Start Guide, you will learn how to:
- deploy and configure your basic data protection environment
- create agent-based and agentless backups
- successfully restore data from backups.
Catalogic Backup Appliance is an all-in-one solution (backup management software and storage) which can later be extended both in terms of machines to be protected and various storage solutions, including external vStors (with replication and offload capabilities), S3 providers and tapes. Learn more about the potential of the Catalogic Data Protection Suite in DPX Documentation and vStor Documentation.
